Don't give up!

We have achieved the aim of project „Step By Step Forwad” 2014 !

2014 for association passed by carrying out the project „Step By Step Forward!” (financing agreement No. 2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/110/R/036/2014). All the set objectives were implemented and expected results were achieved. During this time the interests of children and young people with special needs have been defended, human rights respected by taking part in action policy development and decision making processes. A collaboration with other NGO’s has taken place, a funding was found to ensure the needs of the target group.

An association representative took part in action policy development and decision making processes throughout the year. It has been ensured that interests of children and young people with special needs were heard in relation to Education Law, i.e. children have the opportunity to learn in the educational institution, which is closer to home and they are provided with the necessary additional staff support. An assistant service was introduced in general education schools that helps children and young people with functional disorders to move around the campus. The idea about the necessity of teacher’s assistant has become actual. During meetings I. Kenne, has activated the idea of raising funds for children and specialized education programs.

Collaboration with various NGOs took place in 2014 (Madona’s union „We four our children”,  Latvian Children Fund, Latvian Diabetes Federation and Dyslexia Union, people with disabilities and their friend union „Apeirons”, Auce’s disabled union „Māriņas”), thus the capacity of association was strengthened and sucessfully delivered defense for necessities of children and young people with special needs. Also a collaboration with NGO’s cooperation platform „Parents Forum” has taken place. A cooperation with union „Dr. Clown” and „Special Aids Park” was started last year.

Union’s implemented events in 2014 would not be imaginable without contributors/ sponsors!

More than 7 contributors/sponsors were attracted to carry out NGO’s activities. A cooperation took place with fund „Ziedot”, „LDZ infrastruktūra” Ltd., Charity Fund of Rietumu Bank, Salaspils Rotari Club, Riga City Council, „Staburadzes konditoreja” Ltd., „NP Food” Ltd. and others. Thanks to the donations such things were provided as: purchase of sling therapy equipment, implementation of Christmas event, summer /camp and education excursion to Estonia, as well as transfer of various products (biscuits, beverages, stationery etc.) to union’s families.

Union says many „Thanks!” to all the volunteers who found time to take part in the NGOs organized events in 2014. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Summer rehabilitation camp and other events would be unimaginable without the help of volunteers!

In 2014 union opened a new, beautiful homepage where the information is being updated regularly - photo collages, informative articles and other highlights are being published. As well as union’s twitter account was opened.

Thanks to union’s active work more and more families want to become union members.
