Continuation of the Implementation of the “Step by Step Forward” Project
We continue to implement the “Step by Step Forward” project in 2014 with the financial support of the financial instrument of the European Economic Zone and the Latvian state. The project is financially supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
The goal of the Action Plan 2014 is to protect interests and observance of human rights in regard to children and youth with movement disabilities by getting involved in the policy development and decision making processes, to cooperate with other NGOs, attract funds in order to provide for the demands of the target group.
The major activities planned within the frames of the project: protection of interests of the target group in state and municipal institutions, promotion of understanding in the society, including the development of a home page, cooperation with other NGOs, attraction of funds and new members as well as cultural initiatives. A Mother’s Day Celebration event in the Latvian Puppet Theatre has been planned for May but in summer months – an educational trip to Estonia. The tradition of celebrating the Father’s Day will be continued as well to emphasise the importance of the father’s role in a family.
The main goals that will be reached by implementation of the
Project: we will provide for protection of the interests of the
target group, that will leave a positive impact on the changes in
the policy development of the respective field and the range of the
planned services; we will develop a home page of the Association,
that will considerably improve delivery of the information to the
target group; we will provide for cooperation with other NGOs, work
on attraction of new members and new funds for further work.
Cultural events will be organised to promote social inclusion of
children and youth with disabilities by prevention of
discrimination and abuse directed towards any disability.
On 19th August, 2013 the “Association for Latvian Children with
Physical Disabilities” concluded the agreement No
2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/110/2/R/036 with the Society Integration Fund on
the implementation of the „Step by Step Forward” project No
2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/110 within the frames of the financial instrument
“NVO” funds of the European Economic Zone.
The Action Plan for 2014 was prepared in 2013 and the funding
agreement for the Project implementation period from 01.01.2014 to
31.12.2014 was concluded on the 12th of December.
Total costs of the Project are 66666,67 EUR. The costs for the
implementation of the Action Plan 2014 are 25737,99 EUR, 90% of the
financing of the Program being allocated from the financial
instrument of the European Economic Zone and from the Latvian State
and 10% being co-financed by the “Association for Latvian Children
with Physical Disabilities”.
