Children with disabilities celebrate Father’s Day with a garden fest

Children with disabilities celebrate Father’s Day with a garden fest!

On September 7, children and young people with different disabilities commemorated Father’s Day in order to celebrate, honor own fathers and to remind the society about those really strong, brave and manly fathers who take care of children with disabilities. Children enjoyed a real garden fest atmosphere, took part in different art genres, amused themselves in inflatable attractions, while doctors Clowns from a unity „Dr. Clown” cheered both young and grown ups

Ilze Kenne, the head of „Association for Latvian Children with Physical Disabilities” tells :

„I am really happy that we are making a new tradition and celebrating Father’s Day second year in a row. Mother’s Day is a common tradition for us and we hold the event every year in the Latvian Puppet Theater. Whereas Father’s Day tradition is quite new though I am glad that families are responsive and gladly gather together to honor the strong support- fathers. It is a false opinion that men do not want to take care of their children with special needs, there are many smart and manly gentlemen among the members of our union whose offsprings have to cope with different types of disabilities. Those fathers are loving, diligent, helpful, with a high sense of responsibility and definitely are worthy of appreciation.”

The guests of the event were being amused with different tricks by „specialists” from the union „Dr Clown”- Doctors Clowns teached both children and adults how to create animals and figures from ballons, showed a martial art of paper plates, cheered the sad ones with lovely jokes and other tricks thus making a very lovely atmosphere in the Father’s Day celebration.

The event was organized within the framework of „Association for Latvian Children with Physical Disabilities” project „Step by step forward!” No. 2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/110/2/R/036/2014. Project is financially supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Program is financed by EEA and Latvian State.
