Don't give up!

New year, new achievements!

New year, new achievements!

In 2015 association continues to carry out the support project „Step by StepForward!” (Financing agreement No. 2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/110/R/036/2015). This year’s aim – in collaboration with other NGO’s to defend interests of children and young people with disabilities with regard to inclusive education and other areas of public administration institutions, to represent their needs, planning the 2016 state procurement of technical aids. To promote public awareness of the needs of target groups and to attract new members and sponsors.

Thanks to the attracted additional funding (Charity fund of Rietumu bank, Riga City Council Education, Culture and Sport Department e.c.), the annual Christmas event took place in Latvian Puppet Theatre on January 3, 2015. This event was an amazing opportunity for association members, friends and supporters to look back on the work that has been done in 2014 and to jointly set goals for 2015.

By attracting financing of project „Step by Step Forward!”, association and Charity Fund of Rietumu Bank, a modern, rehabilitation processes appropriate Biofeedback and neurofeedback system Nexus-10 was bought in February this year (manufacturer Mind Media B.V., the Netherlands). In the near future association’s specialists will start working with the new equipment, thus providing our members even a wider range of available rehabilitation services.

Wooden rehabilitation equipment was bought in January in order to improve the quality of rehabilitation classes and to ease the work of children and specialists. The equipment consists of different wooden constructions (ladder, little chairs, balance boards etc.) which encourages children to develop sense of balance, correctly crawl, climb, get down, sit and stand.

Association weekday work is related not only with providing rehabilitation services for children and young people. A great work is being done to maintain the webpage, prepare different informative materials, lectures for parents, communicate with all association members, supporters, cooperation organizations. Over the last couple of years this work had become burdensome because the old computer technique was not able to carry out its functions. A new stationary computer was set up in the association’s office on 3 Varžu street by attracting the funding of association and project „Step by Step Forward!”.

The annual Mother and Father’s day events, summer workshop/camp for young people are planned to be held in 2015 as well. A two-day excursion to Lithuania is planned in summer of 2015. Association representatives will continue to defend the interests of children and young people with special needs of inclusive education and other areas of public administration. It is planned to improve association’s capacity within the project framework - two association’s physicians will be provided with training NEURAC 1 work with Sling therapy equipment Redcord.

Estimated costs for the implementation of 2015 work plan amounted to 29726,68 EUR where 95 % of program’s co-financing were granted by European Economic Area Financial instruments, while the remaining 5% - from the budget of the Latvia.
