Continued work on the protection of target group interest.

The association shall continue implementation of the project "Step by Step Forward" until the 31 st December. (Financial Contract Number. 2012.EEZ/DAP/MAC/110/R/036/2015).

Protection of target audience's interest Up until the conclusion of the project - collaboration representatives Ilze Kenne and Vineta Grigane-Drande shall continue the protection of the interests of children and young people with disabilities in various decision making institutions. During meetings with other NGOs, an opportunity to find financing for teacher assistant wages shall be discussed in order to provide additional lessons and consultations for those children and youth who are forced to miss school due to health issues, also the new teacher remuneration model shall be discussed as well as matters that related PII and availability of children supervision services. Also the dialogue on the provision of higher quality children and youth rehabilitation services shall be continued in line with the most recent trends related to children's health, additionally matters on compensation of public transportation fees shall be discussed.

An educational trip to Lithuania An education trip to Lithuania took place from 13 - 14 th June. During the trip, parents were provided with comprehensive information about the dolphin therapy and its importance in children's rehabilitation process.  Children and young people with disabilities had an opportunity to learn the culture and history of the neighbouring country. On the first day, all 48 participants of the trip visited the newly-refurbished Palanga dolphinarium, Kursi peninsula, Ragana hill, the dead forest and sea ravens. On the second day, the participants explorer the old quarter of Klaipeda, visited the Art Gallery of Klaipeda, Dinosaur park and the hill of crosses next to Siaulinai.  Participants of the trip were accommodated at the Sventoji recreational complex by the sea.

Father's day event The annual father's day event took place on 13 th September, 2015. The goal of the event was to promote the role of the father in family, since often it is forgetten more focusing on the fact that father is merely the breadwinner of the family, while in reality his co-participation in the upbringing of the child is as important as mother's. The event was attended by 86 children/young peope and their parents as well as 10 volunteers took part in the event. In order to provide participants with interesting activities, collaboration was made with association "Dr. Klauni" and association "Maigais suns", an inflatable attraction was rented, as well as children had an opportunity to work with shapable balloons, Lego duplo sets and express themselves in various creative workshops. Event visitors were treated with various non-alcoholic beverage (coffee, tea, juice, mineral water) and various pastries and fruits. Each of the participants also were given a Rujiena ice cream.

Summer rehabilitation workshop - capacity and volunteer work An intensive 8-day summer rehabilitation workshop took place from 30 th July to 8 th August in cooperation with association "We for our children". A total of 30 young peoples with disabilities in ages from 12 - 25 took part from Riga region as well as 4 young people from Vidzeme region via the association "We for our children". Various qualified specialists and volunteers worked with the participants on daily basis. Participants were provided hydrotherapy sessions at the swimming pool of Vaivari Rehabilitation Centre as well as physiotherapy and creative sessions. At the same time, style, behaviour and communication consultant worked with the participants. During their spare time, the participants took part in an impro theatre and Nordic walking. The workshop also served as a basis for collaboration with the association "We for our children" - exchange of mutual knowledge on the organisation of workshops of this type, on volunteer attraction methods and other knowledge for the strengthening of NGO capacity. At the same time the knowledge and skills on organisation of such rehabilitation workshops were furthered and in future it is planned to organise these workshops in rural area which shall improve the protection of your with disabilities at a regional level. 

Estimated costs for the implementation of 2015 work plan amounted to  29726,68 EUR where 95 % of program’s co-financing were granted by European Economic Area Financial instruments, while the remaining 5% - from the budget of the Latvia.
